Tearfund ICS volunteer, Scott Stevens has just returned from 10 weeks volunteering with our partner in Rwanda.
He briefly summarises the highlights, and then we’ll let his film do the rest.
Volunteering alongside Rwanda volunteers on our team made the experience that much better! We all bonded really well together and having them with us helped us to engage with the community more.
The thing that stood out most was how easily our two different cultures came together and worked side-by-side. We were living, working and socialising together and, by the end of the trip, we all felt like a large family.
Our Rwandan team mates also helped us gain a better and deeper insight into the culture and our community.
We helped out on so many projects so it’s hard to say which had the biggest impact, but I think one of the main projects was a sponsorship programme we helped set-up for the local school. We created sponsorship cards for over 150 students which means the school now has a chance at getting some valuable funding so it can carry on and help educate more vulnerable children.
